About Me

I am a Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. I completed my pre-graduate and post-graduate studies at the University of Pretoria. Following my studies, I completed an internship at 1 Military Hospital in Pretoria. My work focused on a wide range of psychiatric and psychological difficulties and I worked with groups, families, couples and individuals in the Psychiatric, Orthopedic and Children’s wards.

After my registration as a Psychologist I worked at an Rehabilitation centre in Johannesburg. My focus was on individual and group therapy to assist adolescent individuals and their families to manage addictions and the accompanying difficulties associated with them. At this same period I also began my private practice which I continue to do to this day. After leaving the Rehabilitation Centre I worked as a clinician and case manager at an Employee Assistance company. The focus of my work was on work related problems but I continued to consult at my private practice throughout this time working with a wide client base encompassing people of all ages and backgrounds, with a myriad of unique challenges.

I currently work in Government and in private practice. I have an extensive background in work related difficulties and psychological challenges experienced by people who are able to function in their personal and work lives but are expecting to or are already struggling in managing these responsibilities. I have presented workshops on many difficulties like Conflict Resolution, Stress Management, Managing relationships in the workplace and Interviewing Skills. I work with groups, families, couples (Relationship Counselling) and individuals. I have particular interest in couples counselling (both straight and gay couples), work related difficulties and challenges relating to sexuality. I use an integrative and collaborative style of counselling and like to work with my clients to improve their functioning and wellbeing.
